“In the past, the high-speed motors used in premium hairdryers and vacuum cleaners were largely monopolized by three players: Nidec, Minebea, and Dyson”, said Wang Qiaolin, general manager of Youhe Electric (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., in the company’s precision electronics workshop on July 15. He picked up a freshly produced motor and spoke with calm but evident pride: “Now, we can make the ‘heart’ of home appliances ourselves.”
Youhe’s high-end variable-frequency micro-motor project is being carried out in two phases. The first phase, with an investment of 1 billion yuan, includes a new 120,000-square-meter plant that integrates R&D laboratories, smart manufacturing, office and exhibition spaces, and warehousing and logistics facilities into a comprehensive smart home appliance industrial base. Currently, phase one is completed and operational. When the entire project reaches full capacity, it is expected to generate annual sales revenue of 3 billion yuan.
Behind the technological breakthrough lies substantial financial commitment. “Youhe has established three R&D centers, bringing together over 60 experts in mechatronics, materials science, and related fields”, Wang added. Over the past three years, the company’s R&D investment has grown at an average annual rate of more than 80%, and it has accumulated over 400 patented inventions.
High-speed motors, circuit boards, and finished home appliances are now being produced here, one after another – destined to enter households across the country and become yet another calling card for “Yancheng Smart Manufacturing”.
