On the afternoon of July 9, a meeting to arrange work on defense against typhoon Bavi was held. Yan Hanping, Secretary of CPC Yancheng Municipal  Committee, addressed the meeting. He urged full implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s guidance on flood control and disaster relief, strict execution of provincial work requirements, full readiness against major floods, hazards and disasters, thorough implementation of all prevention duties and measures, and all-out efforts to protect residents’ safety and social stability. The meeting was chaired by Wu Wei, Deputy Secretary and Acting Mayor.

At the meeting, the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, Premier Li Qiang’s directives, as well as the latest work arrangements issued by CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the Provincial People’s Government were conveyed and studied. It pointed out that responding to Typhoon Bavi in a scientific manner and making all-out efforts to fend it off is a major test, and more importantly, a tough battle we must win. All sectors across the city must fully recognize the severity and urgency of flood and typhoon prevention work, adhere to the principle of putting people and their lives first, firmly foster bottom-line thinking and extreme-risk thinking, brace for this critical combat with a fighting spirit, act without delay, reject fluke mindsets, overcome perfunctory attitudes and abandon inertial thinking, and secure calm response to the typhoon through thorough advance preparations.
