On May 6, the Municipal Party Committee Foreign Affairs Work Commission (Municipal Party Committee Hong Kong and Macao Work Leading Group) convened a meeting. Participants thoroughly studied and grasped Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on Hong Kong and Macao work, earnestly implemented the requirements of the Party Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee, and studied and arranged the city’s current foreign affairs as well as Hong Kong and Macao-related work.

Zhou Bin, Secretary of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee, Director of the Municipal Party Committee Foreign Affairs Work Commission and Leader of the Municipal Party Committee Hong Kong and Macao Work Leading Group, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Yan Hanping, Mayor, Deputy Director of the Commission and Deputy Leader of the Leading Group, and Wu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Commission and Deputy Leader of the Leading Group, attended the meeting.The meeting fully affirmed the achievements made by the city’s foreign affairs, Hong Kong and Macao work system since last year in deepening sister-city relations, optimizing the business environment, building distinctive featured brands and invigorating people-to-people diplomacy. It pointed out that foreign affairs work constitutes an important part of the work of the Party and the country, and work concerning Hong Kong and Macao bears on national sovereignty, security and development interests. At present, opening up is confronted with new opportunities and challenges. All sectors across the city should always keep in mind the two overall situations and bear firmly in mind the major issues of national significance. We shall consciously position and plan Yancheng’s foreign affairs, Hong Kong and Macao work within the overall national strategic landscape, and press ahead with its implementation in the broader context of regional development. It is imperative to enhance the ability to think and conduct work against the backdrop of opening up, strive to advance the high-quality development of the city’s foreign affairs, Hong Kong and Macao work, and better underpin the smooth launch and initial progress of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

The meeting conveyed the spirit of relevant documents issued by the central and provincial authorities, listened to a work report on the city’s foreign affairs, Hong Kong and Macao affairs in 2025, and discussed the 2026 key work points of the Municipal Party Committee Foreign Affairs Work Commission (Municipal Party Committee Hong Kong and Macao Work Leading Group).

Municipal leaders Fei Jian, Chen Weihong, Tang Jing and Xie Jibu, together with principal responsible persons of all member units, attended the meeting.
