On the afternoon of April 17, Zhou Bin, Party Secretary of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Party Committee, met with Carola Veit, President of the Hamburg Parliament. Wang Rong, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Yancheng Municipal People’s Congress, attended the meeting.

Zhou Bin extended a warm welcome to Carola Veit and her delegation on their visit to Yancheng amid the delightful spring weather. Zhou noted that during the meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz this past February, President Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Germany should act as open and mutually beneficial partners for innovation, charting the course for sub-national exchanges between the two countries. In recent years, economic and trade ties between Yancheng and German cities have grown increasingly close, with deepening people-to-people and cultural exchanges. As a major economic hub and port city in Germany, Hamburg boasts vast potential for cooperation with Yancheng in fields including green and low-carbon transition, high-end equipment manufacturing, and cultural and sports exchanges. It is hoped that the two sides will further enhance mutual understanding, advance practical cooperation across the board, and contribute to the in-depth development of bilateral relations between China and Germany.

Veit expressed her delight in visiting Yancheng during this wonderful season. She noted that the city boasts a beautiful ecological environment and robust development momentum, and its impressive achievements in the application of smart scenarios and the green and low-carbon transition are highly commendable. It is hoped that the two sides will work hand in hand to strengthen economic and trade exchanges, while further deepening youth and cultural exchanges, continuously enhancing mutual understanding and strategic trust, so as to better achieve win-win development.
