On March 9, at the 15th Izhevsk International Circus Festival in Russia, the program Dream Chasing: Duo Skills, created by Sheyang County Acrobatic Troupe, stood out as the only Chinese entry in fierce competition. It won first place in the festival’ s Gold Award and simultaneously received the Chairman’ s Award of the Udmurt Republic.
Dream Chasing: Duo Skills is a high-difficulty acrobatic act centered on handstands and top balancing techniques. It incorporates several world-first and China-first innovative movements, such as “single-hand top with left-right hand switches” and “single-hand lift with rotating top hold.” Through seamless duo collaboration, it showcases the ultimate beauty of strength and balance. Beyond technical excellence, the program emphasizes profound spiritual expression. With the core theme of “harmony with competition”, it uses humorous rivalry, mutual encouragement, and dynamic interplay between performers to convey vitality and tension in healthy competition, ultimately returning to the philosophy of “harmony as supreme.” This infuses traditional acrobatics with contemporary narrative depth, interpreting values of unity, collaboration, and shared progress.
As a prestigious event in the international acrobatics community, the Izhevsk International Circus Festival, founded in 2008, has attracted top acrobatic troupes from around the world to compete. Over the years, through this grand event, Izhevsk has risen to become one of the world’s renowned circus capitals, serving as a key global platform for acrobatic arts.
