Recently, Xiaomi Auto’s official Weibo account announced the new-generation SU7. Following the impressive 3,944 km 24-hour endurance challenge completed by the Xiaomi YU7, the upgraded SU7 headed to the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) test ground in Yancheng for an even tougher 24-hour extreme endurance test.

Under the same rigorous Le Mans-style rules, the challenge was carried out strictly according to the pre-set plan. In the end, the vehicle racked up a total distance of 4,264 kilometers over the 24-hour period.

The CATARC Automotive Test Ground is located in Dafeng District, Yancheng. The facility is massive in scale: Phase I comprehensive test field and Phase II intelligent & connected vehicle test field together cover approximately 6.33 square kilometers. A site of this magnitude is rare not only in China but also on the global stage.

The CATARC Yancheng test ground is widely regarded as one of the busiest automotive proving grounds in the world. Its “busyness” shows in several key metrics:

It handles test sessions for up to 10,000 vehicles per year. On any given day, more than 100 vehicles are simultaneously undergoing testing on site. The total annual test mileage reaches an astonishing 25 million kilometers. These figures place it among the very top facilities worldwide in the industry.

On the data-collection front, the test ground employs state-of-the-art intelligent systems. High-precision sensors combined with high-speed data transmission networks allow real-time capture of vehicle operating data, followed by precise analysis. These rich datasets not only help automakers refine vehicle design and performance, but also provide extremely valuable support for the research and development of autonomous driving technologies.
