On October 22, Zhou Bin, Secretary of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee, met with met with Ambassador Masaru Okada, the Consul General of Japan in Shanghai, and his delegation to discuss deepening exchanges and strengthening cooperation.
On behalf of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee and Yancheng Municipal Government, Zhou Bin extended a warm welcome to Okada and his delegation and gave a brief introduction to Yancheng. Zhou noted that Yancheng boasts rich ecological resources, distinctive geographical advantages, and a profound cultural heritage. With Japan just across the sea, the two sides share a strong foundation for cooperation.
Zhou emphasized that Yancheng will continue to regard Japan as a key region for expanding its opening-up efforts, taking the construction of the Green and Low-Carbon Development Demonstration Zone as an opportunity and leveraging major events such as the China-Japan-Korea Friendship Cities Exchange Conference to expand cooperation with Japan in trade, cultural exchanges, and international ecological protection. He expressed the hope that both sides would share development opportunities and create a better future together, contributing to the stable and sound growth of China-Japan relations.
Okada expressed his appreciation for Yancheng’s long-term support for Japanese residents and enterprises in the city. He remarked that Yancheng has made steady progress toward carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and has become an important hub for emerging industries such as new energy, offering great potential and broad prospects for cooperation. He said that the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai will continue to deepen collaboration with Yancheng in areas such as trade, culture, and youth exchanges, helping to further advance friendly relations between Japan and China.
