On May 9, staff of Yancheng National Nature Reserve for Rare Birds photographed two baby red-crowned cranes which were bred wildly in the mudflat area of the core zone. This marked another discovery of live red-crowned cranes of natural reproduction in the wintering ground of Yancheng.
Red-crowned crane is one of the world’s threatened species and national first-class protected animal. As a member of MAB, Yancheng National Nature Reserve for Rare Birds is the largest wintering ground for the world’s wild red-crowned cranes of western migratory population, providing 600 plus red-crowned cranes with ground for their wintering.
