Onthe afternoon of April 2, the Zhehai-161 liner, loaded with 30,000 tons ofcoal, was berthed at the No.1 wharf of the SPIC (State Power InvestmentCorporation)Binhai Port. The maiden sea trial of the liner, owned by XiexinBinhai Electricity Generation Company, was wonderfully successful, which showedthat the sea port is capable of allowing vessels with a capacity of 35000 tonsto navigate and be berthed. This port makes it possible for the twoultra-supercritical power units to achieve greater development.
With a totalinvestment of 3.8 billion yuan, the phase-Ⅰproject of the SPIC Binhai Coal Port is designed tohave a annual throughput of 39 million tons, which contains one 70,000-ton andone 100,000-ton berths, one 50,000-ton and 35,000-ton loading berths, two 1000-tonriver loading berths, coal storage yards, storage bunkers, windbreak nets andperiphery facilities. At present, the main part of the project has been completed.Three ship unloaders have completed the installment and debugging process andthe storage yards, storage bunkers and coal-transporting systems are underconstruction. The channel capable of allowing 50,000-ton vessels to navigate hasbeen dredged, which is expected to be put into use later this year.
