On June 25, Zhou Bin, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, met in Yancheng with a delegation led by Adam Shareef Ahmed, Director-General of the Local Government Authority of Maldives.

On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, Zhou Bin welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Yancheng. He noted that Yancheng is a coastal city in eastern China and the largest prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, with unique ecological endowments, a solid industrial foundation, and steadily improving openness to the outside world. Maldives is a world-renowned island nation. Against the backdrop of the friendly bilateral relations between China and Maldives, exchanges between Yancheng and Maldives have grown increasingly close. Taking this visit as an opportunity, he expressed the hope that both sides would deepen collaboration in ecological protection, focus on key areas such as seawater desalination, green energy, and marine ecotourism, expand practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen mutual learning in local governance, jointly writing a new chapter of friendly cooperation between the two places.

Adam Shareef Ahmed thanked Yancheng for its warm hospitality. He remarked that Yancheng boasts a beautiful ecological environment and strong development momentum, and its achievements in ecological protection, modernization of grass-roots governance, and green and low-carbon development are deeply impressive. He expressed the desire to learn from Yancheng’s practices, continuously broaden the scope of cooperation, further deepen friendly exchanges, and achieve more tangible results in practical cooperation.

Municipal leader Tang Jing attended the meeting.
