On June 17, the launching ceremony of the multimedia campaign “Tales of the Crested Ibis: The Beauty of Biodiversity” was held in Sheyang County.

You Jian, Deputy Director-General of the Office of Cyberspace Affairs Commission of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Yin Rongyao, Deputy Director-General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, and Zhang Jin, Second-Class Inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Natural Resources, attended the event. Chen Weihong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee and Director of the Publicity Department, and Hang Chunyan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua Daily and Executive Person-in-Charge of Jiaohuidian Platform, were present and delivered speeches respectively.

In her speech, Chen Weihong stated that in recent years, Yancheng has thoroughly applied Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, actively explored a new path of prioritizing ecological progress and pursuing green development, and strived to build a municipal model featuring harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.The year 2026 marks the 45th anniversary of the rediscovery and conservation of the crested ibis. Once regionally extinct in the Yellow Sea Wetlands, the crested ibis has successfully bred fledglings in wild wetland habitats this year. This landmark achievement showcases Yancheng’s in-depth efforts in biodiversity conservation relying on its World Natural Heritage site, and also serves as a vivid example of Jiangsu’s coordinated protection of rare and endangered species and in-depth advancement of ecological civilization construction.
