“In today’s domestic polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) materials market, domestically produced products account for only one-tenth. Among that one-tenth, Orida alone contributes nearly one-third,” said Li Guohua, Chairman of Jiangsu Orida New Material Technology Co., Ltd., with emotion. “Ten years ago, the high-end materials market was dominated entirely by imports. Now our goal is to replace imported materials with high-quality products made in China.”
Recently, at the industrial park in Haihe Town, Sheyang County, employees at Orida New Material Technology were busy debugging newly installed equipment.
“Each new production line costs an average of 6.3 million RMB, and the total investment in the new workshop reaches 80 million RMB, of which more than 40 million RMB has already been invested. All production lines are expected to be fully completed by the end of the year. Once all 19 production lines are operational, both production efficiency and product standards are expected to reach world-leading levels in the industry,” according to Xiong Jun, Chief Engineer of the company. The company’s intelligent transformation has significantly improved efficiency. In the past, a single production line required at least five workers to monitor it; now, one person is sufficient to operate it. Complex and labor-intensive processes are increasingly handled by robotic arms, and automation has become a key competitive advantage for the company in capturing market share.
Over the years, Orida has remained deeply rooted in the new materials sector, focusing on core technologies and strengthening its main business. It has gradually developed three major product lines: PPS, HTPA, and PARA. Although these materials may sound highly technical, their applications are extensive. They are widely used in: chip casing protection for rail transit systems, high-speed connectors in big data storage, positive and negative electrode covers in energy storage batteries, key components in new energy vehicles, including battery systems, motors, and electronic control units. The company also maintains long-term partnerships with major industry players such as Huawei, ZTE, CATL, BYD, and AVIC.
