On March 25, the Yancheng Maritime Safety Administration officially issued the first electronic certificate for ship insurance, marking a critical step in the digital transformation of maritime government services in Yancheng and ushering in a fully electronic era for ship insurance certificates.
It is reported that electronic certificates for ship insurance have been adopted nationwide since March 20. By establishing an automated service chain of “instant generation upon application, real-time push upon approval”, maritime authorities have enabled “Instant Access Without Application” for electronic certificates. When handling ship insurance certificate procedures, companies need only submit applications through existing processes. The system automatically issues electronic certificates and pushes them in real time to the applicant’s “Haishitong” (Maritime Connect) app. These electronic certificates hold equal validity to paper versions and can be accessed anytime, anywhere via mobile devices, truly achieving “zero trips and zero waiting.” Besides electronic certificates are interconnected with systems such as ship arrival/departure reporting and hazardous goods declaration, advancing “one-stop online services” for maritime operations. This not only enhances service convenience but also strengthens dynamic regulatory capabilities, realizing “zero-distance services and full-coverage oversight.”
A representative from the Yancheng Maritime Safety Administration stated that the next steps will involve further streamlining procedures, advancing comprehensive paperless and intelligentmaritime services in our city, improving the digital service ecosystem, and safeguarding high-quality development in the shipping industry.
