On January 6, the largestliquefied natural gas (LNG) reserve base as CNOOC Yancheng “Green Energy Harbor” completed pre-cooling and filling of No. 10 LNG tanks, which marks that the world’s largestLNG tankwith asingle capacity of 270,000m³ came into service successfully underself R&D, design and construction of China.

10 LNG storage tanks are planned to be built, which is enough for domestic gas supply of about 28 months in Jiangsu province and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 37.64 million tons.

According to Deng Qing, Party Secretary and General Manager of Jiangsu LNG, the 270,000 LNG tank adopts the core technology of CGTank^® which CNOOC has independent intellectual property rights, with complexdesign and construction process, and cutting-edge technology in the field of energy. China is one of the few countries in the world capable of carrying out the design and construction of ultra-large LNG tanks. In this operation, all key technical indicators of the tanks have been verified for safety and reliability, which provides a good reference for the engineering application of 270,000 cubic meters of LNG tanks in China, and indicates that China’s ultra-large LNG storage tank design and construction technology has reached the world leading level.
