From March 5 to 9, Vice Mayor Tang Jing led a delegation to California, the United States for a business and friendly visit. During the visit, the delegation visited San Diego County and Ontario City to promote cooperation and enhance friendship.

San Diego County is a county with the third largest population in California with developed communication, bio-pharmaceutical and tourism industry. And it is known as a dazzling pearl on the magnificent coastline of Southern California. In October 2003, Yancheng and San Diego officially established a sister city relationship with the county.On the afternoon of March 7, the delegation arrived in San Diego and were warmly welcomed.Vice Mayor Tang Jing introduced the economic and social development of Yancheng and the friendly exchange history between the two sides. He hoped that both sides would take the lead in carrying out cooperation under the framework of MOU on strengthening climate and environment cooperation jointly signed by Party Secretary Xin Changxing of the Jiangsu and Governor Newsom of California, continuing the traditional friendship and benefiting our people. He also actively invited Chairwoman Vargas of San Diego to lead a delegation to visit Yancheng this year to experience the development and changes of Yancheng in recent years.Chairwoman Vargas said that she would continue to make active efforts to maintain good and close sister city relations between the two counties, and looked forward to an early visit to Yancheng to strengthen economic and trade cooperation and enrich cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

On the evening of 7th, the delegation also held a dinner with former chairman Ron Roberts of San Diego County Board of Supervisors. During the dinner, Vice Mayor Tang Jing awarded Mr. Roberts the Memorial Medal for International Friendship between Sister Cities of Jiangsu Province to recognize his outstanding contributions to promoting the exchanges and cooperation between Yancheng and San Diego County.

Located in San Bernardino County, Southern California, Ontario has the second largest international airport in Southern California, with good traffic location advantages and rapid economic development.On the morning of March 8th, the delegation went to the city hall of Ontario and met with Mayor Paul Leon. After introductions of both cities, the two sides discussed the possible areas of cooperation and reached consensus on actively promoting mutual visits and strengthening economic and trade cooperation.
