OnOctober22,thecumulativeexternalsupplyofliquefiednaturalgas(LNG)fromYancheng’s“GreenEnergyPort,”operatedbyChinaNationalOffshoreOilCorporation(CNOOC),surpassed5milliontons.ThisachievementstrengthensthenaturalgassupplyforEastChina,providingasolidfoundationformanagingthecriticalpeakdemandduringtheupcomingwinterandspringseasons.
Accordingtoestimates,5milliontonsofLNGequatestoapproximately7.2billioncubicmetersofgaseousnaturalgas.Basedonanaveragehouseholdusageof0.5cubicmetersperday,thissupplycouldmeettheannualgasneedsof39millionhouseholds.Moreover,itcanpotentiallyreducecarbondioxideemissionsby32milliontons,equivalenttoplanting67milliontrees,offeringstrongsupportforbothregionaleconomicdevelopmentandenvironmentalprotection.
AsCNOOC’ssoleLNGreservebaseinJiangsu,Yancheng’s“GreenEnergyPort”holdsseveralworldrecords,includingtheconstructionoftheworld’slargest270,000-cubic-meterLNGstoragetankandthelargestclusterofsuchtanks,aswellasbeingthelargestLNGreservebaseinChina.SinceitslaunchonSeptember26,2022,Yancheng’s“GreenEnergyPort”hassuccessfullycompletednumeroussupplytasks,receiving82LNGshipmentsandimportingover5.3milliontonsofLNG.Thefacilityhasproveninstrumentalinsecuringenergysupply,promotingregionalgreendevelopment,andimprovingqualityoflife,servingasanationalassetandabackboneofstability.
