On the afternoon of October 21, Mayor Zhang Mingkang met with Sylvia Bender, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and Patricia Flor, the German Ambassador to China, during their visit to Yancheng for the 10th China-Germany Agricultural Week. Deputy Secretary of the CPC Municipal Yancheng Committee Wu Wei also attended the meeting.
Mayor Zhang warmly welcomed Bender and Flor, providing a brief overview of Yancheng’s situation and agricultural development. He noted that hosting the 10th China-Germany Agricultural Week is an encouragement and boost for modern agricultural development in Yancheng, offering an excellent platform for international cooperation in agriculture and enhancing the city’s openness.
Zhang emphasized that Yancheng, as a major agricultural city, hopes to leverage this event to deepen bilateral cooperation with German institutions, organizations, and leading enterprises in areas such as green and low-carbon agriculture, facility agriculture, and the production of high-quality agricultural products. He expressed a desire to expand practical cooperation across various fields, including trade, culture, tourism, education, and ecology, and to actively engage in friendly exchanges to further develop China-Germany relations.
Sylvia Bender praised Yancheng’s achievements in ecological environment and high-quality agricultural development, noting that the city’s beautiful ecology and favorable development trends in agriculture and renewable energy left a deep impression. She affirmed the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s commitment to promoting cooperation and achieving greater success in green and low-carbon agricultural exchanges.
Ambassador Flor congratulated Yancheng on successfully hosting the China-Germany Agricultural Week, stating that the embassy will play a significant role as a bridge for cooperation and communication, facilitating deeper and broader collaboration between localities in both countries.
